Mechanical Breadth

The current mechanical system is a VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) system which allows the owner to monitor individual unit’s usage of the building. This system is newer in the industry and is expensive to install. My proposed analysis consists of looking at the long-term benefits of having this VRF system. This would be looking at warranties or O&M manuals and compare it to the traditional VAV system design. The impact of this topic would be to see if there is a longevity of the VRF system compared to the traditional VAV traditional system.

Acoustical Breadth

In ensuring that the building’s finishes are more unified and provide a lower cost per square foot, an acoustical breadth will be performed on the existing and the alternative wall types to ensure they comply with the STC values respectfully. In hopes to reduce cost and to increase reverberation times for the building, the outcome is to hopefully find a different wall partition with a higher STC value.
